Abbey Meads Junior Netball Club-2014
Welcome back or welcome to new members.
Abbey Meads are really pleased with how well the junior sessions went last term and we are excited to inform you that the junior club will run again from September. The junior club will run for 13 weeks, in term time only, up to Christmas. We have entered 2 teams into the junior netball league in Swindon and matches for this will be on a Thursday evening or Sunday morning. There is no pressure to play in matches children can just come to the training on a Tuesday. It will be run under the guidance of the club coach, Lorraine Bulpitt, along with other volunteers who will make up the junior coaching team.
Sessions will be held indoors in the Dome at Next Generation, 5 Larch Close, Kembrey Park, Swindon, SN2 8LY
All equipment will be provided but we ask that the children wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a drink along. No jewellery or watches can be worn at training, for safety reasons, so please ensure it is removed before training begins. If we need to cancel a session for any reason we will need to contact you so please ensure you fill in the information sheet with up to date contact details and return it before the sessions start. If you have already filled in the contact details form from the last sessions please just check the details and return to me stating the details are correct.

Junior netball league
We have entered two teams into the junior netball league which is played at the Dorcan recreation centre on a Thursday evening 6-7pm or Sunday mornings. Dates and times will be confirmed nearer the time. Children choosing to play in the league will need to pay the following to affiliate to England Netball.
18 and under (as of 1-Sep-14): £20.75
14 and under (as of 1-Sep-14): £13.15
We will also try and arrange some more friendly matches so that all children can experience some match play in a relaxed situation.
Once your daughter turns 13 years old they are eligible to play in the adult netball league. The matches are always on Saturdays at Dorcan Dome and the times vary from the first game being played at 10:00 and the last game at 14:30.
If your daughter would like to participate in the adult netball she may wish to start to stay behind for taster sessions on a Tuesday and benefit from the extra training. She can then see what it is like to play against adults and decide if she would like to compete at that level. They do not stay for the full session it will be until 8pm. Please let me know if you would like your daughter to participate in the training sessions.
The club is always desperate for umpires if you or your daughter would like to start umpiring it would be a good idea to start umpiring at the junior training sessions and then progress to the lower team training sessions. There will be a course for you to attend in the Summer of 2015. Before attending the course umpires need to have practice at club training nights. Please let me know if you are interested.
We welcome any support that parents can offer. If you are interested in staying behind and managing teams, refreshments, fundraising, anything at all please let me know.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Julie Hewitt for all her hard work over the last few years. It is a shame that she is no longer able to support the junior section of the club.
I will do my best at trying to fill her shoes but as most of you know I run the adult section of the club so please stick with me and of course please let me know if you feel there could be improvements.
All of the people above are volunteers and do not get paid for the time and commitment. It is their passion for netball that makes them want to give up their time.
A huge thank you to them too for all their hard work.
